Local-first AI

Local-first AI means performing work on equipment controlled by the operator when that is practical and appropriate. It can reduce unnecessary exposure of sensitive documents, improve control over models and retention, and keep critical workflows available without depending entirely on an external provider.

Kraken’s local environment supports research, documentation, translation, source review, software work, recovery, and coordinated agents.

Local does not automatically mean safe. Security still requires access control, updates, backups, logging discipline, data minimization, and clear human authority. External services may still be necessary; the goal is to make that choice deliberately.
